Wall stickers and decals

Quotes, names and Islamic art sized for real walls, glass and mirrors, with the borders, mirroring and transfer layouts a decal shop needs.

A wall sticker is a sizing problem before it is a design problem. The customer sends a phone photo of a wall and a phrase; you have to decide whether the decal is 600 mm or 1,400 mm wide, how it splits into transfer-tape panels, whether it reads from inside the glass or outside, and how a five-line quote balances above a sofa. Get those numbers wrong and the decal either disappears on the wall or does not fit the roll.

These tools start from the wall. The size calculator turns a wall or window measurement into a decal size with sensible margins; the makers set text in centimetres; the previews put the design on a wall with a sofa and door for scale, which is the picture a customer approves. Then the outline, border, mirror and transfer-layout tools turn the approved design into a file that weeds and applies cleanly.

How a wall stickers job runs

01

Size from the wall

Enter the wall or window width and height in the Sticker Size Calculator. It suggests a decal that fills 50 to 65 percent of the width, which is the range that reads well without crowding.

02

Set the text

Wall Sticker Maker, Quote Sticker Maker and Islamic Wall Sticker Maker compose single or multi-line text in centimetres, with alignment and line spacing. Name Wall Sticker Maker is tuned for a single word at bedroom-door scale.

03

Preview for the customer

Wall Size Preview and Sticker Mockup Generator place the design on a wall, glass or wood backdrop at true scale. Export the preview image for approval before you cut.

04

Prepare for cutting and application

Mirror for inside-glass work, add an outline or border for a die-cut sticker, then lay the pieces out with Vinyl Transfer Layout so each panel fits the transfer tape width with a margin.

On the machine

Removable versus permanent

Interior wall decals use removable calendered vinyl (the Oracal 631 class), which peels without pulling paint. Glass, vehicles and outdoor signs use permanent vinyl (the 651 class). Matte hides wall texture; gloss shows every bump.

Inside-glass decals

A decal applied to the inside of a shop window must be cut mirrored so it reads correctly from the street. The Inside-Glass Sticker Tool and Mirror Sticker Tool flip the cut; nothing else about the file changes.

Transfer tape width

Most shops run 300 or 610 mm transfer tape. A quote wider than the tape has to be split into panels with a 10 to 20 mm overlap, and each panel needs an alignment mark. Vinyl Transfer Layout adds the spacing and border.

Textured walls

Fine calligraphy strokes will not stick to heavily textured paint; keep strokes above 3 mm and prefer bolder faces. Wall Size Preview shows the stroke widths at the final scale.

What usually goes wrong

  • Sizing the decal from the design instead of the wall. A 400 mm quote above a 2 m sofa looks like a label.
  • Cutting inside-glass decals unmirrored. Sticker Outline and Mirror both need to happen before export, not after.
  • Ignoring the roll and tape widths. A single 900 mm panel cannot be applied by one person; split it.
  • Applying a multi-line quote line by line without a registration frame. Use the layout export so all lines share one transfer sheet.
  • Die-cut stickers with a border too close to the artwork. 2 to 3 mm of border keeps the blade off the print and gives the sticker a clean edge.

Common questions

How large should a wall quote be?

As a rule the decal spans half to two-thirds of the wall section it sits on, and the smallest letter should be at least 30 mm tall so it reads from across the room. The size calculator applies those ratios from the wall measurement.

How do I apply a large decal without bubbles?

Use the hinge method: tape the top edge, peel the backing down in stages, and squeegee from the centre outward. The layout tool leaves a 10 mm margin around each panel for the hinge tape.

Can the Islamic sticker tool set an ayah with correct joins?

Yes. It uses the same HarfBuzz shaping as the calligraphy makers, so contextual forms, ligatures and diacritics are placed correctly before the outline is generated.

What is the difference between an outline and a border?

An outline is a welded shape hugging the design at a set distance, used for die-cut stickers. A border is a contour at a larger offset with rounded joins, used as a decorative frame or a backing layer.
